To do this you need to build up enough red rings to unlock them (or make an in-app purchase). To start with you can only play as Sonic, but it is possible to unlock other characters from the popular Sega franchise: namely Tails, Knuckles and Amy. As with Temple Run, there are collectible items along the way in Sonic Dash, such as magnets that trap coins, dash boosts and extra lives.
